Sinopsis

Occlusion rehabilitation of the completely edentulous mouth is the process of restoring oral function, comfort, esthetics, and speech in patients who have lost all natural teeth by fabricating complete dentures with a balanced and stable occlusion. The primary goal is to distribute chewing forces evenly, improve denture retention and stability, and protect the supporting oral tissues from excessive stress. Rehabilitation begins with a thorough examination of the patient?s oral tissues, jaw relations, ridge anatomy, and neuromuscular coordination. Accurate primary and final impressions are made to obtain well-fitting denture bases. Jaw relation records are used to establish the correct vertical dimension of occlusion and centric relation. Artificial teeth are arranged according to the selected occlusal concept, such as balanced occlusion, lingualized occlusion, or monoplane occlusion, depending on the patient?s clinical condition. Balanced occlusion is commonly preferred because it provides simultaneous contact of teeth during mandibular movements, improving denture stability.
