Sinopsis

This work concentrates on nanomanipulation of a nanosphere lying on astage via a pushing scheme. Such unidirectional nanomanipulation can beachieved by employing devices such as the AFM and the Zyvex nanotips.Recently, friction between the sample and the stage during the nanomanipulationprocess has sparked interest among many research groups.Experimental data exhibit a stick-slip motion behavior of the sample duringthe manipulation process. This work presents a novel approach to bettermodel such nanomanipulation. The proposed model is effective in reproducingexperimental behavior commonly observed during the nanomanipulation. The proposed nanomanipulation model also facilitates furtherimprovement and extension of each subsystem to accommodate otherphysical phenomena that characterize the physics and mechanics of nanomanipulation. The book is addressed to scientists, engineers, and experimentalistsworking in the nanotechnology field.
