Ironically, she grew up vowing that she would never be a teacher. She received her B.A. degree in English from the University of California, Irvine. After graduating from college, still unsure about her career path, she began substitute teaching and unexpectedly fell in love with preschool special education. Shannon obtained an Early Childhood Special Education Credential and an M.A. in Special Education with an emphasis in Early Childhood from California State University, Dominguez Hills. She has dedicated 28 years to early childhood education, including 25 years in preschool special education.áHer inspiration for writing came from the beloved childrenâÇÖs bookáBrown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?, whose simple, repetitive wording engages young learners. Shannon created an animal book series that invites young children to actively participate in the reading experience. In addition to being an author, Shannon is the owner of Care2Teach Educational Resources, which provides educational resources designed for early childhood education. Born in Louisiana but raised in Long Beach, California, Shannon now lives in Southern California with her two beautiful daughters. She cherishes time with her family and enjoys being actively involved in her church.
